#brooklynne: some time to explain!!!!

I'm sure that many people are going to disagree with me but personally I think that post-Chaos Theory season 2 events Kenji and Brooklynn shouldn't get back together (and it's probably been a long time coming event).
And I have an explanation.
Before any of you bring out your pitch forks - yes, I admit, I was never a big fan of brookenji BUT I understand how they could have developed feelings for each other. Spending so much time together, relying on each other every day, sharing semi-similar experiences prior-Isla Nublar, not to mention simple attraction - those are all valid reasons as to why they could have fallen in love. And, hear me out, I think that their relationship worked well for as long as they tangibly experienced the aftermaths of Isla Nublar/Mantah Corp Island on the Main Land.
What do I mean by that? When you are going through an experience with someone, especially a traumatic experience, you may still kind of feel rooted in that experience even once it ends. It doesn't necessarily mean stagnation - during that time you can develop as a person, and gather new experiences, but a part of you is still living as if it expects to go back to the old ways. That means that you still follow a similar routine, cultivate the same habits, or keep up the same mindset.
However, as time progresses, you naturally move on. Kenji and Brooklynn could still have experienced some side-effects of living on dino-infected island but their minds moved on and started "settling" on the Main Land. Now that on its own - is not a problem. The problem (well, part of it) is that their threads of development started to stray apart. And I want to emphasize here - it is no one's fault, it is a natural occurrence.
By the end of jwcc S5 and in the first season of jwct, we can clearly notice how it is important for Kenji to have something (and someone) to anchor in. That is not surprising at all - he was a mostly neglected child, who saw a hero in his father but who found a real family in his friends. Perhaps that was his first real experience of a family. Naturally, because of that, "family" suddenly (compared to pre-jwcc Kenji) has a whole different value for him, he starts to associate family with new things like safety, mental comfort, stability, and proximity. We see it not only in how he treats Darius in the finale of jwcc S5 but in how, despite it all, he stays in close proximity to Daniel Kon in jwct S1 - because yes, he (probably subconsciously) extended some of these new aspects of a newly discovered "family" even to Daniel. This explains even better his very emotional reaction to Daniel's death - losing a member of a family is almost like a taboo in Kenji's concept of "family". Staying alive was the top priority on Isla Nublar, being alive together was what made the Nublar 6 family real and safe.
I think, to some extent, a member of a family dying itself Kenji almost treats like an act of betrayal (remember that his mother also died when he was a child).
And now we have Brooklynn who not just dies but fakes dying. And Kenji hates deceit - especially after he was lied to by his own father - a member of his "original" family. And here we have Brooklynn - a member of the found family doing the same thing but even worse. She had her reasons, and her reasons are justified, but the justification of something isn't enough to rebuild a shattered core value / core belief for someone else. Listen, Brooklynn can be forgiven but it doesn't mean that Kenji will be able to restore what they had. Like physically and mentally it may actually be impossible for him.
Now it's time for Brooklynn's side.
Brooklynn is a very interesting character on her own because there's one thing that is unchangeable about her and it's the fact that she likes being independent. She was basically a solo internet superstar who was used to doing things on her own throughout her whole life. Now, it doesn't mean that she doesn't need friends or that she can accomplish everything on her own - no, and throughout jwcc (and I predict that jwct is going to make a point out of it too) she learns how to reach out for help and how to help others. She's a good friend - even her motivations in jwct are deeply rooted in the fact that she is just a really incredible friend. But! That is not the only catalyst for her motivations. She is also ambitious and, like I said earlier, very independent. Both of these are very strong, often dominant traits that heavily define her actions. And listen - those are also traits that for a very long time granted her success and, what's more important, self-satisfaction. To put it plainly: it makes her happy when she can solve mysteries, track suspicious leads, uncover secrets - it has always been her thing! And it obviously makes her happy to this day - maybe it's not as carefree happiness but I believe that it's just a more adult version of the same "emotional high". And not only does it make her happy - she's also incredibly good at it.
It doesn't mean that for Brooklynn the Sense of Adventure is more important than family and friends, it just means that stability is not the value she has as much space for as Kenji does. Because for Kenji, whose whole life centers around creating a solid concept of family and home, a sense of safety and stability is a key value, Brooklynn on the other side is always ready to be on the move, she anticipates dynamism from the world. And that's why Kenji, who's slower and more anxious (even if he doesn't voice it out openly!) to accept changes, doesn't quite keep up with her lifestyle.
Post leaving Isla Nublar, the campers (including Kenji and Brooklynn) started developing in new ways - they picked up new traits, gained new experiences, and started figuring out what works best for them. In my opinion, Kenji's life led him to the point where he had to quite physically sculpt his life on his own for the first time and this process takes years. It doesn't mean that he's boring or, god forbid, lazy - it means that as a person in so many ways shaped by a changing concept of family, he needs to build a house for himself - mostly metaphorically. Only recently he started rock-climbing, and found out that he loved it - that's amazing but he needed time and a proper state of mind to figure it out. We can only guess how the rest of his life unfolds but I tentatively predict that some kind of stability - being able to turn around and see the person you love always there and will always reassure you - will be a core value for him. Brooklynn, with a different personality type, clearly picked up some parts of her life that she had before Isla Nublar. She didn't have to build everything from scratch and, ergo, doesn't value the "building" itself as much as Kenji. None of them are wrong in their mindset, in what they value. But having a different mindset makes it much much harder to reach a common ground in a relationship.
And I'm temporarily putting aside that Brooklynn betrayed Kenji on so many levels and basically broke his heart - in a way, I would argue that (though I feel like she was too harsh when she was talking about it with Darius) Brooklynn could also feel as if Kenji hurt her by not giving her enough credit and space which probably was uncomfortable for her because she is, as we established, very independent. So both of them hurt each other in different aspects for sure (this post doesn't aim to put blame on any of them), but the thing is that I think they just grew up to be different people with different needs.
And that's okay.
(I'm sure some of you are going to be mad either way but I just wanted to share my point of view)

Howdy, Heidi! You said that some fans picked up things that were done on accident… Were there more scenes like that? Also, were there scenes that you guys made on purpose but fans didn’t pick up / were aware of them? In shipping terms (hihi) and in general terms. Thanks!
I think in every type of media you will inevitably see versions of 'authorial' intent vs audience interpretation that overlap and differ from each other in many ways. (Authorial intent in quotes because in collaborative mediums like film and animation every single person on the pipeline who touches the work probably has a slightly different personal interpretation they're contributing to the final work, even under someone like a showrunner or a director).
Humans are smart and it's in our nature to look for connections and find explainations to questions, so most of the time if someone is putting something down, someone is going to pick it up, so to speak, and a lot of things ARE on purpose.
But this same phenomenon can also lead to us seeing connections in places that even the 'authors' might not have originally thought of while creating the work, and I think that can be pretty neat actually! I don't necessarily think reading alternate interpretations of works is wrong-- it can be very healthy to explore multiple reads of a narrative or a character/character dynamic. On Chaos Theory there were definitely times when we were like 'fans are probably gonna ship this even if it's not the text' haha. Sometimes fans latch onto headcanons you really have no control over. Sometimes things were animated slightly differently from how they were conceived (which is also a natural part of things).
But yes, sometimes I have seen a few other things that were interpreted in slightly different ways from how they were directed or written verbally, but I'm personally of the opinion that it's more fun to leave some things visual and open to a little interpretation rather than beating the words over the audience's head and having the characters constantly announcing 'I'm feeling this because of this!' And going 'this is the only way to interpret the show and the characters and if you don't you're wrong!'
It's usually not a huge deal. I think even as we were working sometimes I'd make connections to myself that weren't necessarily spelled out to us and go 'oh, this is a throughline for this character actually!'
Like for example- if I remember correctly, the original direction behind how Kenji reacted to Ben's apparent death was that it was supposed to the first time he'd ever seen someone he really KNEW seemingly die right front of him, and being unable to do anything about it deeply affected him. Ben is a very important turning point in his character development regardless of which way you read it.
And I think this is actually something that just continued to stack onto his character throughout both shows whenever any of his friends lives are seriously in danger. In Camp when he's still unable to do anything but comfort Sammy while she's poisoned, to deciding it's too dangerous not to trade Wu's laptop for Brooklynn, to eventually throwing himself between the spinosaurus his dad is about to kill Darius with and choosing his friends over his own father and being willing to die with/for them... and then in Chaos Theory it kind of reboots all over again with Brooklynn dying and then his dad dying right in front of him, and his complex of not wanting to be useless and trying to do whatever he can at the expense of even himself to keep the loved ones he has left safe is kicked into overdrive.
I think there are a lot of things like that where the intent is not always verbally spelled out, but the more important thing is that it's still (hopefully) making you feel something.
#anyway tldr there always are but I don't think it matters all that much usually#part of the dance of doing a show is offering things up for interpretation and hoping folks pick up on it#I think that one shot I in Camp did also just haunts me because I felt like I accidentally contributed to 'queerbaiting' at the time#but having been on both the creation side and the fandom side of shows now#when fans toss around accusations of queerbaiting and all that in fandoms I'm in it just makes me tired now ajjdjd#and honestly personally some of my favorite ships are not canon and are from things that have long ended and will never be canon#but I've always had some of the most fun with those because folks tend to get more creative with fanworks for ships that aren't canon#my controversial fandom conclusion v_v#I will just end things by saying sometimes 'authors' intend for things to go in different directions than fans want or interpret#and I love shipping as much as the next person#but it can be good to step back and examine stories and characters from a non shipping view sometimes too#both? both. both is good#Sammy and Yaz were always shipped by everyone on the crew though lol#jurassic world chaos theory#jwct#jurassic world#chaos theory#chaos crew#storyboard artist#camp cretaceous#ask#anonymous

Been thinking to myself lately about Ben’s girlfriend and have a theory to share 😼🙏
MAJOR CHAOS THEORY SPOILERS AHEAD
Here’s a compilation of all the evidence that Brooklynn is Ben’s girlfriend (but probably in disguise) and that we will see her come into the story soon
1.) The repeated yet cryptic mentions of her.
Ben mentioned his girlfriend only twice in the show, first framed as a joke and again in a more serious tone later. Both times, he was interrupted/questioned while talking about her and didn’t get to share any details. This usage of her presence tells the audience that she is important in some way, and leaves us to speculate on her role in the story. If Ben was lying about having a girlfriend, it would’ve been a one off gag and not mentioned in a serious light later on. Because we have no details to go off of with her, it makes her much more of a mystery to the audience.
2.) She lives in an unspecified country in Europe.
The series is set a couple of months before Dominion. If you all recall, the underground dinosaur market was featured heavily in Dominion, and the market they infiltrated was based in Valletta, Malta, which is in Europe. What does Brooklynn just so happen to be tracking in Chaos Theory?
Illegal dinosaur purchases.
We have no idea where she is at the moment, but if Brooklynn is currently in Europe and has been since she “died”, she could very well be tracking the market in Malta. It’s possible she’d want a “man on the inside” of sorts, and by connecting with Ben, she’d be able to keep track the N5 without revealing herself to be alive.
3.) The N5 boarded a boat that is going somewhere unspecified to meet a broker.
The boat they’re on is carrying a lot of illegally owned dinosaurs, and if they’re off to meet a broker, it’s entirely possible the boat is headed to one of the market checkpoints around the world. Darius listed a couple of them off as they walked through the storage unit, and one of the countries he mentioned was Malta.
If the N5 end up in Malta and are tracking the purchases at the same time as Brooklynn, who seems to be tracking the same boat and the events surrounding it as seen at the end of the show, they’ll see her there at some point no doubt.
It would also make sense for them to end up in Malta because the atrociraptors are in Malta by Dominion. If they end up going to Malta in Chaos Theory and defeating The Handler there, Soyona Santos could very easily take over the raptors there in Malta instead of receiving them elsewhere.
4.) When they put out a casting call for “Sydney”, the character they used as a cover for Brooklynn, they gave her an unnecessary backstory.
It would’ve been just as easy to put out the casting call and keep all information about her a secret besides the basics, but they shared a lot about her, like the fact that she was supposedly a child actress now working to expose the industry for mistreatment, or that she lost her arm protecting her friends. These details that were shared about her were unnecessary to think of at all, unless they actually plan to USE those details in the show. They could be part of the identity she’s using to date Ben. This could also explain why her name has been kept from the audience, because if she’s going by Sydney, we’d be able to guess that she’s not who she says she is with a little research.
5.) Brooklynn and Ben both use Dark Jurassic, and could have easily connected there.
Brooklynn knew how much of an avid user Ben was of Dark Jurassic, and could’ve easily forced a connection with him on there somehow since she would’ve known his account information and such. If they didn’t connect directly on the website, they could’ve easily connected off the website over a shared interest in Dark Jurassic and conspiracy theories. Brooklynn and Ben were shown to be pretty close before her “death”, and so it’s likely that Brooklynn would know how to befriend him/what values would get him interested in a connection in the first place.
I really wouldn’t put it past the show runners to pull some twist like this, especially with how Brooklynn’s character has been framed as someone willing to do ANYTHING for information. She said herself that she isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, and fake dating one of her friends to get trusted information or to build on theories of her own etc seems like something she’d be willing to do if she felt it necessary for her investigation.
Regardless of whether this theory ends up being true or not, I’m excited to see where they take her character in season 2!

My take of "The What-Ifs, Season 2 Version"
The Brooklynn Reveals
What-If 1.) Darius alone met Brooklynn
Darius was separated from Sammy, Yasmina, and Zayna when Red is chasing Capt.Lang. Red Spotted Darius and goes after him, Darius lost Red by hiding in a room, unbeknownst to him he got inside the control room, Darius turns around to see someone who thought died months ago, yet, Brooklynn is standing right before him. Brooklynn manage to save Yasmina, Sammy, and Zayna from White (Let's call that Eyeless Baryonyx for now) she gets up and was about to aproch the door when Darius barged inside. Both of them took a moment to process when they realized they're have some serious talk between them.
What-If 2.) What if Ben told the others about Brooklynn. Ben had 5 chances to do this.
2.1) In the Lifeboat: He could've told them, but they would think he's hallucinating
2.2) When he got back at Episode 2: He showed what he saw earlier at the phone at them. (This can be connected to 2.1 or not)
2.3) If he accidentally slip up:
A:) During the boat Ride: Ben grew furstrated on making conntact with Brooklynn and blurt out she's alive.
B:) After the Hippo attack: Ben is deperate to get the phone back while the others who're trying to calm him down. Ben shouted he needs to know what is Brooklynn duing.
2.4) When Ben have a Panic Attack: Despite Brooklynn's warnings. Ben fails to composed himself and falls into a full-blown panic attack, aftewards Ben tells them about Brooklynn's last call, knowing he broke his promis to her.
2.5) Yasmina's Counselling Session: When Yasmina tries to have Ben open up his trobles, Ben tells her about knowing Brooklynn alive. Ben and Yas had a 1on1 talk.
What-If 3.) Darius found out Brooklynn Staying at Ronie's:
3.1) Ronie called Darius about something important, yet classified. Darius got to Ronie's house and Darius found Brooklynn there. (Some time Before/After she woke up.)
3.2) Darius finds out: Darius wants to check Gordon (Injured Compy) and he has a spare key to Ronie's, he went inside and founds out two things, first is that Ronie isn't home, and second he saw Brooklynn. Cue a lot of explaining and conspiracies full of angst and comfort.
What-If. 4.) Brooklynn stayed for a moment when she brought the Container down.
That scene when Brooklynn looked up on the container holding Darius, Sammy, Yasmina and Zayna&Geba. She brought the container down, instead of going away after, she stayed and met them. Featuring Sammy' cries and bear hugs, mother Yaz lectures her child, an Awkward tension between B & D, Zayna is confused, And Geba is Geba. Afterwards they formed a plan (of somekind, idk) met up with Ben and Kenji and tries to stop Soyona.
What-If 5.) Brooklynn choose her friends instead of joining Soyona on the plane.
There's already one fanfic on Ao3. But as the Watcher said "Every Universe is a Different Possibility."

A thought that I shared in the discord server a few nights ago but that I will also put here, just because if I have to suffer thinking about it, we will do it together.
Let’s imagine Darius, at a time during the trip where they are in trouble or the adrenaline is coming down after escaping from any dinosaur or danger, and the absence of Brooklynn hits him in full.
The guilt that drowns him, that unbearable weight on the stomach that he carries with him since the day of the tragedy and as if it were not enough even his mind plays a bad joke, a memory that for the time was sweet but now is bittersweet: the words that Brooklynn told him in the tunnels in season 5 "Your light shines bright Darius Bowman, and I will follow you anywhere." He hears the words with her voice. As if that moment in the past were now, as if her was really telling him at that moment, to fill him with courage again. Only this time, she’s not there, he couldn’t save her. So they give him the strength to go on but at the same time they make him feel even more guilty than he already feels.
Probably next to him is Ben who sees him totally detached from reality, elsewhere and not knowing well what to do, but knowing well the reason embraces him to give him comfort.
Darius returns to reality when he feels the tears that flow copious along the cheeks and arms of Ben that surround him and that point would begin to try to explain to Ben why he is crying and was detached without succeeding and Ben would just hug him stronger and would tell him "I know what are you feeling, it’s hard for me too, I miss her too, it’s not the same without her."
And they’d be hugging for a while, looking for some comfort in each other, or at least until Darius calmed down.
(@mangosaurus @withdenim , I know you want to gently hit me for this, ops)

Okay this is my last post until chaos theory s2 comes out. I’m gonna talk about things I expect to see in season 2. Dinostar love confession/argument flashback- I need an argument or love confession. I want to see Brooklynn face when Darius told her his feelings, I want to see them argue, I want to see Darius hesitating on meeting up with Brooklynn. I just need more Angst.
Sammy’s family problems explanation- I need an explanation because how in the world did that even happened? Like why aren’t her parents talking to her? That girl sacrificed herself for them, why would they stop talking to her? Is not homophobia because Sammy’s father seemed to be okay with it in the last episode of cc, and Yaz even moved in with them. I heard its because she turned vegetarian or some like that but she literally ate a corn dog with Ben so I don’t think that’s it. The most possible one is Bumpy or her parents being afraid of living in the country side. Maybe her family didn’t wanted to deal with a dinosaur. Or maybe they were too scared to keep living on the country side so they moved, and that made Sammy not want to talk to them anymore. Idk, they better explain that.
Ben’s girlfriend- I need more information about her cause I ain’t believing that yet. The way he said it was not very convincing to me. (I think he might be hiding something.) but I do hope is real though. Just imagine how funny it would be if Ben asked Yaz, Sammy, or Kenji for girlfriend advice.
The Long Run chapter but reversed- What I mean with this is instead of Yaz saving Sammy, is Sammy saving Yaz. That’s it. I need it.
More Darius and Kenji bonding- I need this y’all. I want them to talk about their times as brothers when they lived in the same house and were taking care of by the same mother. I so need this :(
Brooklynn and Handler- I want those two to at least look at each other. Badass woman should always meet another badass woman. (Not a ship)
Mae, Roxy, or Dave- I want them to at least be mentioned. I miss Mae so much.
Angel and Rabel-Please come home your parents miss you. ;(
Nublar six back together- I want them to reunite with Brooklynn so baddddd. I don’t want them to be happy though, at least not right away. I want them to be mad at her because that girl made them sufferrrrr so much and for what? Like I better see some arguing.
Handler- I just want more handler content, she’s just too good.
The new characters lore- I’m so excited for the new characters they look so good, I want a background story for them😭
That’s all…I’m so excited for this season chat, I’m waking up at 3am Thursday to at least have an hour and a half to watch the show before I have to go to school :( (I’m binging when I get home)

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (Gender Neutral Reader Insert)
Chapter 7: Welcome to Jurassic World
<- Previous Next ->
When you awaken, your eyes refuse to focus. Your sight is blurry, and it’s as if everything had been covered in black smog.
A cracked windshield greets you once your vision clears, some small pieces hanging by a thread or just completely gone. You’d have to check yourself for any protruding glass later.
Blinking away any lingering blurriness, you realized that the black smog was actually smoke coming from the hood of the car.
“Is everyone okay?” Darius mutters, his voice hoarse.
“Is everyone…?” Yasmina chuckles at his words, but you can hear the undeniable anger in her voice.
She trudged past everyone, throwing open the back doors and jumping out sluggishly.
Oh right, what was even more embarrassing than crashing the van was the fact that Sammy had you all right under her thumb. Well, except Brooklynn, of course.
Sammy calls out to Yasmina, but she pays no mind to the girl and instead walks away from the van with a livid expression. As the two girls walk off, the rest of you hop out of the van to access the damage.
The front of the hood is crumpled, black smoke pouring out of it like a volcano about to burst. The culprit in the crash was a large rock, about the same size as the hood itself.
Other than a singular crack running across the middle of it, the rock didn’t seem to be affected by you crashing into it. But of course, a rock is a rock, and a van is a van.
….
Do you have a concussion or something?
As you and Darius stare down at the hood of the car, Yasmina and Sammy’s argument continues.
“We’re in the middle of a jungle with a monster dinosaur out there, and you…” Yasmina’s words fall short, her rage overwhelming her. “You…”
“Destroyed our only way to get help and lied about it!” Brooklynn finished for her. “I told you guys!”
“So, you did take Brooklynn’s phone?” Darius says in disbelief, his eyes narrowed in a mix of exhaustion and betrayal. “Why? What were you doing?”
While Darius and Brooklynn walk forward to interrogate Sammy, you stay back to think about what to do next. Sure, Sammy’s deception was surprising, but the van was undoubtedly more important. Now all of you would have to continue on foot, and so far that hasn’t gone too well.
“Probably trying to erase my video of her taking those samples from the Sinoceratops.” Brooklynn huffs.
Sammy gasps, her eyes full of guilt. She looks to Yasmina, but upon meeting her angered stare, she lets her gaze fall to the ground.
“And you knew about the Indominus rex because you were snooping around Dr. Wu’s office when I ran into you. I knew it!” Brooklynn yelled, her shattered phone held tightly in her hand.
Is that where they went? You noticed Brooklynn was gone, but Sammy had never even crossed your mind.
“I didn’t mean to destroy the phone. I fell on it when the zipline came down and–”
“But you did steal it?” Ben interrupts her. “You had it this whole time and didn’t tell us?”
Darius walks forward. “Hold up. What were you doing in Dr. Wu’s office, Brooklynn?”
“I…” Brooklynn begins, but when her eyes land on Sammy, she avoids the question altogether. “It doesn’t matter. I didn’t break our only way to call for help and then lie about it! This is not my fault! This is her fault! She–”
“I’m here to spy!” Sammy shouts suddenly, her words causing a confused silence to fall across your group. “For a company called Mantah Corp.”
“Mantah Corp?” Darius wonders aloud, before explaining to the rest of you. “They’re a bioengineering company, big rivals with Masrani. They tried to make dinosaurs, too, but Wu beat them to it.”
“You doomed us all for some lousy company?” Ben snarled.
“Why would you do that?” You asked quietly.
Sammy pauses, her gaze wandering across everyone in the group. She wasn’t going to get out of this, so she might as well explain herself. And so, with a sigh, she does exactly that.
“Our ranch was in trouble, so my folks had to borrow a lot of money from some shady people. We didn’t know that they were fronting for Mantah Corp. They said we’d lose everything unless I spied for them.”
She continued with a shuttered breath. “Use the behind-the-scenes access I’d get at camp to gather info from Wu’s lab, and DNA from dinos, and whatever else they needed.” She spares a glance towards Brooklynn, her head lowering with guilt.
“But then Brooklynn caught on, and I got scared, and then everything went wrong.” She walks towards Yasmina, her face wrinkled with remorse. “This is the last thing I wanted to happen.”
“Oh.” Yasmina scoffs. “To be next to a broken van on a killer dinosaur island? Hey, me too! What are the odds?”
“Yaz, I–”
“Was it all a lie, wanting to be friends? Pretending you cared about…” Yasmina’s voice trails off, before getting back on track. “You just needed someone to hide what you were doing. Tell me I’m wrong.”
The only answer she gets is a shuttered sob from Sammy.
“I’m such an idiot.” Yasmina murmurs before turning around and walking off.
Sammy follows her, trying to explain her actions. She places a hand on Yasmina’s shoulder to stop her.
“Don’t touch me.” With a tense jaw and clenched fists, she pushes the girl’s hand off her. “Go away, Sammy.”
With watery eyes, Sammy runs away from the group.
With Sammy gone, Yasmina rejoins the rest of your group, who all stay awkwardly silent.
Bumpy, unaffected by the sad atmosphere, rears her hind legs to get Yasmina’s attention.
“Not now Bumpy.” She whispers.
“Look, I know the situation we’re in is suboptimal–” Ben starts tersely.
“It’s trash. Just say it’s trash, Ben.” Brooklynn says as she pinches the bridge of her nose.
Ben’s about to continue his attempt at cheering the group up, but a sharp gasp from you distracts him.
“What?” Darius asks, ever the leader.
Ignoring his question, you pull a small shard of glass out of Kenji’s arm, prompting a yelp to escape him.
“It’s gone now.” You answer curtly, throwing the shard off to the distance. Kenji stares at you in what you think is fear, and you almost laugh in his face before Bumpy grabs your guy’s attention.
She jumps and squeals, causing Ben to look at her worriedly.
“Bumpy, what are you…”
A loud rumbling became obviously apparent, and only a second later, the Indominus rex burst out of the treeline.
Everyone runs out of the way, and you hurriedly help Ben and Darius pull Bumpy out of the way so that she doesn’t get squashed.
“This is trash! This is trash!” Ben screams.
Hiding on the other side of the van, confusingly, the Indominus doesn’t bother with any of you. Instead, it bolts in the other direction as it roars.
“It’s running.” You state in a fit of confusion.
“What the…” Darius sputters.
The sound of rotors and gunfire soon invade your ears, a helicopter soon coming into sight chasing after the Indominus.
“Masrani’s helicopter!” Kenji yells as he points to the aircraft. “That’s his call sign on the tail!”
“They’re shooting at the Indominus!” Darius yells over the commotion, quickly pursuing the helicopter, causing you all to do the same.
Eventually, you all come to a stop as an enormous hemisphere comes into sight. Even without your glasses, the geodesic dome was large enough for you to recognize it as Jurassic World’s Aviary. It stored their Pterosaurs, although with the Indominus headed straight for the dome, that’s likely to change soon.
Glass shatters loudly, and yet the helicopter continues its gunfire as it hovers over the dome.
“What was that?” Brooklynn yells.
“Yeah! Kick its butt, Masrani!” Kenji screams, his hands cupping his mouth. “We’re saved! Yeah, baby!”
Kenji turns to Darius, slapping his back playfully. “Ah! I told you, they’ve got it totally under—”
In an instant, the helicopter is falling through the dome, gray smoke trailing after it before an explosion sounds across the dense forest.
A long string of blurs come after the explosion, and you can only hope that they aren’t what you think they are.
“Are those…?” You squint your eyes to differentiate the blurs soaring in the sky, but a tug at your wrists steals your focus.
Darius pulls you closer to the group as he replies. “The Pteranodons got loose. We’re practically sitting ducks! We’ve got to take cover!”
Kenji gasps as he takes the van tablet from Brooklynn’s hands.
“The Kayak River!” He points to a spot not too far from where you all were. “The entrance is near here. It goes underground, beneath the ridge. If we follow it, it’ll take us right to the main park.”
“Then that’s where we need to be. Come on!” Darius shouts, and everyone immediately heads for the Kayak River.
However, Bumpy can’t seem to get the hint that you all need to go. Ben tries to pull her from one side, but with her weight, he can only move her an inch or two away from where she stands.
You run back towards the two, grabbing one side of Bumpy as Ben grabs the other. With a huff, you both hold her in the air as you run after the others.
“Come on!” Darius hollers towards you and Ben, running ahead but never straying too far from the two of you.
Screeching from above becomes fearfully obvious, and you can only push yourself to run faster. Your legs ache, and a cramp in your side steals your breath like a parasite.
One Pteranodon dives, and Kenji, the appointed line leader, has to duck down to avoid its beak.
“Come on!” He yells as he changes course, running through some foliage.
Bumpy’s weight really begins to… well, weigh on you. Your breath comes out in shallow huffs, and a short glance towards Ben tells you he’s in the same boat.
Just before you can reach the tunnel leading towards the Kayak River, Ben’s legs give out, and Bumpy’s mass is shoved onto you. Her weight forces you down to the ground with her and Ben.
In an instant, Darius is in front of you, trying his best to pull Bumpy towards the tunnel where the rest of the group had already gone. Ben and you try to push her as Darius pulls, giving up on the whole carrying thing. Still, she only shrieks in fear of the situation.
A screech from above finally scares her into getting a move on, and she rushes past the three of you. The victory is extremely short-lived as a Pteranodon dives towards you all with ill intention.
You yowl in fright, pawing at the dirt to pull yourself upright and into a running position. Darius and Ben scurry after you, screaming all the while.
Running into the tunnel doesn’t grant you any safety, as the Pteranodon follows with determination. Its piercing cry echoes on the concrete walls.
Lit up by electric lanterns, a sliding door leading to the river attraction becomes your goal destination. Ignoring the soreness in virtually every part of your body, and the pounding in your head, you center your attention on the small gap between the door and the concrete frame.
Barging into the Kayak River area, twist your body in order to avoid stepping on Bumpy. With a leg up in the air, and your other foot bouncing to balance yourself, someone flings themselves into you before you can stabilize yourself.
You and the perpetrator fall to the ground, and though you expect to crack your head open on the concrete floor, your head meets a wooden dock instead. You can’t say the same for your back, sadly.
Pushing yourself up and onto your elbows, you stare with narrowed eyes at the culprit. Ben ignores your heated glare, koala-hugging you in response. You try standing, but the boy sticks to you like glue despite your efforts to peel him off. Gloomily accepting your fate, you survey your new surroundings.
Yasmina stands in front of the door, having been the one to slide it shut after the four of you ran in. The animalistic squeals behind the metal door give you tentative relief. Exhausted panting infiltrates the tunnel, everyone too busy catching their breath to discuss anything that had happened just yet.
“Jurassic World River Adventures,”
Ben’s grip on you falters as he looks up at the speakers in the ceiling. “What?”
“Prepare yourselves for the wonder of the underground river. Two adventurers per kayak. Life vests must be worn at all times. Adults, please fasten your own life vests before helping little adventurers. Remain seated at all times. Your journey begins now.”
In due time, Ben releases his grip on you and explores the tunnel with Bumpy. You gladly take a small break away from him. He was getting a bit too clingy for your tastes.
You pick up a stray life vest from the floor, the color a bright yellow hue. Both the vests and the oars had been left scattered around the Kayak River docks. The people down here must have been in a hurry to get out. Has the park already been evacuated?
Striving to forget that thought, you pull the vest over your head and fasten the click belt.
“Brooklynn and I call the CKK.” Kenji announces, hands placed proudly on his hips.
“CKK?” Brooklynn asks.
“Cool kids’ kayak.” He answers, flicking open some sunglasses before putting them on smoothly.
Brooklynn huffs in annoyance.
“Ben and Bumpy can go on this one.” Darius points to a specific kayak.
“I’ll go with them.” Yasmina says as she barges past Sammy. “Let’s go, dude.”
Ben stammers as he’s pushed toward the kayak.
That leaves you, Darius, and Sammy. Seeing as they were nearing the weight limit on Ben’s kayak, and Kenji didn’t invite you to the quote unquote CKK.
And you’re definitely saying that while doing the air quotes in your mind, because honestly, you’re a little peeved that they didn’t invite you.
“Come on, Sammy. Let’s get out of here.” Darius addresses her after a long silence.
She follows quietly as you and Darius lead her towards your guy’s boat.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to thank you for your patience.”
As you all begin your little kayaking adventure, the tunnel becomes darker and darker. Yasmina and the CKK have a little collision because of the darkness, but Kenji brushes off Yasmina’s annoyance.
Your stare travels from the kayaks in front of you to Sammy’s back. You’re not too mad about her betrayal. You’ve only spoken to her once, after all.
You only wonder what the specifics of her situation are. Did her parents tell her to spy for them? Did she do it all on her own? What’s going to happen to her farm now with Jurassic World’s Indominus Rex situation?
You shook your head, putting your focus into paddling the kayak. You didn’t feel like asking her those things. It really wasn’t any of your business. You cast your gaze on Darius instead, who had his full attention on Sammy’s back.
Geez, he’s staring harder than you ever would. You slowly turn your head down towards the water beneath you. Along the walls of the artificial cave, a bioluminescent glow from the algae lights your group’s path.
It’s impressive just how pretty they made this place. You wished you could have come here in different circumstances. Words can’t describe the beauty of the waterfall in the Kayak River. And with the added bioluminescence, it has a magical glow that leaves your bunch gawking at the sight.
Your kayak sits in silence, at least until Sammy has enough of Darius’s prying eyes. Even the beautiful view can’t get her to ignore his prominent staring.
“Just ask.” She mutters.
Darius’s eyes widen upon being caught, his paddling pausing for a moment, though he adheres to her words, regardless.
“It’s just that you talk so much about your ranch and your family, but your family sent you here to break the law.” He draws out his words, awaiting a rebuttal from Sammy.
Sammy immediately turns to the boy, her brows furrowed. “Don’t, Darius. You don’t know anything about my family.”
“I know they put you in danger when they sent you to spy on the park. How can you still defend them?”
“Because they didn’t send me.” She admits. “They said no to Mantah Corp. I was the one who contacted the Mantah Corp agent. I agreed to come here.”
She finally turns to look you and Darius in the eyes. “My family… they didn’t even know what I was planning until I was already on the ferry. Smashing the phone was an accident, but Brooklynn’s right.”
You and Darius’s paddling had just about completely stopped. It’s only when she pauses do you both start up the paddling once more.
She faces away from the both of you, shaking her head earnestly. “This is all my fault.”
“I still don’t see why–” Darius begins.
Sammy turns suddenly, a serious expression worn on her face. “If your family was in trouble, wouldn’t you do anything in your power to save them?”
You and Darius stop in your tracks, her words sinking into your minds like a snake’s venomous fangs. Right, many people would, wouldn’t they?
A dreary atmosphere comes after. No words are spoken until everyone gets farther into the underpass.
“You guys, should the algae be moving?” Sammy questions, her voice loud so that the others could hear her from their kayaks.
On the upper cave ground stood two Parasaurolophuses, their bodies glowing a similar hue to the rest of the bioluminescent cave.
“Don’t panic, guys. They’re herbivores!” Darius reassures. “Unbelievable! Dr. Wu must have put the bioluminescent gene into these Parasaurolophuses.”
They growl deeply, watching calmly as the kayaks pass them by. When Bumpy squeals, however, the Parasaurolophuses crawl into the water. One emerges from the water right next to your boat, scaring the three of you from the sudden appearance.
Darius quickly gets over his surprise, reaching out to stroke its glowing snout in amazement. You watch as a carefree smile stretches across his face.
Though it quickly reverts into an expression of surprise when another Parasaurolophus bursts out of the water on the other side of your kayak, with about four more appearing soon after.
They groan and growl, pushing the kayaks against each other. It’s hard not to fall off of your kayak with the dinosaurs nearly shoving it underwater. The arm of one pushes your side of the kayak down and into the water. You push the arm away from you, aiming to stop the kayak from capsizing.
You can feel the chill of the water creeping onto your arm, and with a final push, the Parasaurolophus releases its grip from your side of the kayak.
Though with the freedom, you get tossed onto Darius’s legs while accidentally kicking Sammy.
She gasps, the kayak tilting to one end as she struggles to stay on board. Darius can only push himself into the kayak to avoid the neck of a Parasaurolophus.
Eventually it dives underwater, a bump coming from under your kayak as it makes its way towards Bumpy. With the disturbance gone, you help Sammy to the middle of the kayak, which settles the previously tilting boat.
She sends a thankful glance, but your attention is solely on the group of Parasaurolophuses surrounding Bumpy, Ben, and Yasmina.
Bumpy’s squealing had drawn them in. Did they think you guys were hurting her? That would explain their rather abrupt attack on your group. Someone just needs to calm Bumpy down and the Parasaurolophuses should back off. Maybe.
“Calm–” you start, however the unexpected silence from the Parasaurolophuses stuns you into a silence of your own.
The flock of dinosaurs stand eerily still, all peering into the darkness of the tunnel further ahead. With a sudden cry from one of them, the group of dinosaurs dive into the water and swim opposite to where your guys were heading.
Without finishing your sentence, you stare at the retreating herd, to the darkness of the tunnel, and then towards the kayaks of your fellow campers.
However, they soon disappear from your sight as in a thick layer of darkness obscures your vision. The colorful light of the algae from before is nowhere to be seen.
“Uh, cool kids to nerds, where are you?” A voice calls, and you don’t need to see him to tell that it’s Kenji.
“Over here!” Darius answers, ignoring the name-calling. “I think something scared the Parasaurolophuses.”
Sammy cuts in with a call of you and Darius’s name, her voice wobbly. “If we stopped paddling, why are we still moving forward?”
The two of you gasp, snapping your heads to the water carrying your kayaks forward all on its own. You hadn’t noticed because of the lack of light, but a current had forced your kayaks forward.
This isn’t right. As far as you know, the Kayak River attraction isn’t supposed to have a current. The fences may be down, but how would that affect the water down here?
Your question is answered by two separate tunnels further down. One mimicking the artificial cave architecture the tunnels had until now, while the other is a simple circular passage.
“Paddle! There’s a current pulling us into a different tunnel!” Darius orders with a shout.
Everyone shoves their oars into the water to backtrack, but the pull of the tide is much stronger than your guy’s paddling. Inevitably, your kayaks drag you down into the tunnel, your surroundings turning pitch-black before you’re shrouded in the blinding light of the sun.
Wait, the sun?
With a hand hovering over your eyes, you check your surroundings. Though they aren’t too different from before. You all are still on your kayaks, floating on water, only now your group is in some sort of water stadium.
“We’re okay. We’re okay.” Ben sighs happily.
Sammy leaned backwards into the kayak, her back resting on your legs as she laughed.
You ignored her, your head swiveling around in all directions. This place was like a football field, both in size and in looks. Only instead of a field, it had an enormous pool. This must be an attraction of some sort that happened to be connected to the Kayak River.
Although, if that’s true, the only aquatic animal Jurassic World could recover is the Mosasaurus. And you really don’t want this to be the Mosasaurus attraction.
A gasp from Kenji is enough confirmation that your assumptions are true. You hate being right sometimes.
“Why did you gasp? That didn’t sound like a good gasp!” Ben whines.
“Cause I know exactly where we are, guys.” Kenji mutters. “We’re in the Jurassic World Lagoon. And so is the Mosasaurus.”
His words bring about a quiet panic, one that has everyone looking every which way.
“I assume the Mosasaurus is some kind of giant fish dinosaur that’s gonna try and eat us?” Ben assumes with a whimper.
“Not exactly a dinosaur, but yeah, pretty much.” You correct, eyes searching for some kind of escape from the lagoon. But your lack of glasses makes it impossible.
A low, raspy growl sounding not too far behind you gets a yelp out of Darius. Definitely your guy’s signal to get the hell out of here.
Harder said than done, especially when the Mosasaurus circles your group. Its body is just barely hidden under the blue water, almost as if it wants to be seen. And maybe it does.
“It’s circling, testing us. It’s acting like a shark.” Brooklynn says in a low tone. “We’re intruders in its domain, so it’s investigating us. Before it gets confident, decides to… to…”
A snarl interrupts her whispering, and Bumpy squeals at the noise.
“This is bad,” Brooklynn finishes.
“We have to get out now!” Kenji whines, holding his oar to his chest in fear.
“There’s a ladder by the spectator stands.” Darius points, and though it’s only a blur of colors to you, your eyes follow his hand, regardless.
Kenji winces at the distance. “How are we gonna–”
“Y’all?” Sammy draws your attention to the water.
Just like Brooklynn said, the Mosasaurus is getting more confident, now swimming directly beneath your kayaks.
“Paddle! Go, go, go!” Darius commands.
“This is not how Kenji wanted to go out!” Kenji yells, his sunglasses close to falling off.
“This isn’t on my to-do list either!” Yasmina hisses.
So far you’ve all made it more or less half-way across the water with no disruptions from the Mosasaurus, but you’re sure that’ll change soon.
“Keep paddling!”
“Almost there!”
Bumpy squeals, fearful from the constant splashing and movement of the kayaks.
Another growl from the deep blue pushes you to paddle faster despite your sore arms.
The CKK, as Kenji had previously called it, arrives at the spectator stands before anyone else. And you wonder if your kayak will make it at all. With three people, your kayak’s been falling behind the other two. Even Bumpy’s kayak had gotten in front of you guys.
The three of you pant from exhaustion, shrieking at every wave made by the Mosasaurus. Because if anyone was going to get eaten, it would be the ones falling behind the rest. And admittedly, your kayak was doing exactly that.
You don’t draw your attention away from the spectator stand. You may not see it too well, but you trust Sammy and Darius to guide the kayak in the right direction.
“Don’t look back! Just keep paddling!” Darius calls out to Sammy and you.
“I’m trying!” Sammy says as she forces her head away from the splashing behind your kayak. “What’s Yaz doin’?”
Her words cause you to divert your attention to your side. There stands Yasmina in all her glory atop a small foot area at the bottom of a large metal pillar.
The pillar in question is used to keep the meat conveyor upright so that it’d stay out of reach from the Mosasaurus. It’s not how it would’ve fed in the wild, but they’ve got to put on the show for the guests, don’t they? Taking your attention off the money hungry tactics of Jurassic World, you wonder why in the world Yasmina’s standing there.
You get an answer when she bangs on the pillar, shouting at the top of her lungs. You couldn’t see it, but judging by her laughter, you guess it worked. Either that, or she was just insane. Considering her antics, you wouldn’t be too surprised.
“She’s distracting it, buying us time. Keep going!” Darius ordered, more towards Sammy than you, whose gaze had wandered yet again.
With a thud, your kayak meets the spectator stand roughly. Sammy crawls out first, lending a hand to you when you crawl out after. She instantly turns her attention towards Yasmina while you help Darius out of the kayak on your own.
“We’ve gotta do something!” Sammy cries, watching as the Mosasaurus swims towards Yasmina. She tears off her life vest, face wrinkled in fear as she hurries up the ladder leading to the stadium above. Darius and you follow in her footsteps, although a lot less hysteric.
A mechanical stir followed by Kenji’s shouting leads you to believe that Yasmina might actually have a chance at surviving this. Or at least you hope so. She’s one of the few people you enjoy here.
Joining the rest of the group at the stadium, you watch as a thick wire rope cable emerges from the water, a hook at the end. Tossing her oar into the depths below, Yasmina jumps onto it, grasping the cable with all four limbs.
“Go, go, go!”
“Yasmina!”
Once the cable is pulled as high as it can go, it moves in your guy’s direction. Yasmina leans back with her legs out, and then forward with her legs in. Over and over she does this, most likely to build momentum. With the Mosasaurus circling her below, and no set drop point, she’s going to jump.
“Come on, Yaz!”
“Oh, no…”
“She’s not gonna make it.”
As those words leave Kenji’s mouth, the Mosasaurus breaks the surface of the water, flinging itself upwards to snap its jaws at Yasmina. In an incredible show of luck, the Mosasaurus latches onto the horizontal wire holding the line and hook. Its teeth cut the wire and Yasmina swings through the air. Can’t be too lucky, it seems.
With little to no time to prepare herself, she’s flung straight into the stadiums. She lands in a crouched position, her feet meeting the ground violently. Yasmina grunts at the impact and curls in on herself, clutching her left leg in pain.
“Yasmina!”
You all surround her, forming a circle of concern. Darius and Sammy help her sit up.
“I’m okay.” She assures you all, but a touch to her ankle forces a pained groan from her lips. “I think.”
“Uh, also, where’d everyone go?” Ben asks, looking side to side at the empty stadium surrounding your group.
“They must’ve evacuated the park.” You answer swiftly, gaze switching from Yasmina’s injured leg to the empty stadium seats.
With no further words, everyone explores the stadium for signs of… well, anything really. Yasmina sits grumpily at the very bottom of the stadium, forced to stay where she’s at because of her possibly broken leg.
Despite the pain, she continues pressing her hands against her ankle as if it would suddenly stop hurting. You watch Sammy approach her, but it doesn’t seem to go well, considering Yasmina stands up and limps away from her.
You sigh, heart still beating out of your chest from everything that’s happened so far. Bumpy bellows softly to your left, happily being used as a pillow by Ben. His eyes are shut, but you doubt he was actually sleeping. At least he feels safe enough to close his eyes at all. You wonder why that is.
You jump and look away when he shifts from his previous position. He looks towards you, who pointedly looks the other way until he speaks.
“I’m… glad you’re okay.” A confused stare from you brings him to continue hastily. “I–I mean you, Darius, and Sammy.”
His words bring a perplexed look to your face, but you let a chuckle leave your mouth all the same.
“Thanks. Uh, you too, I guess.” Your words are lackluster, but his face lights up despite it.
It goes quiet between the two of you, but not in an awkward way. Which is a first for you. Ben lies back down, head resting on Bumpy’s back once more. And this time, he might actually sleep.
The blaring sound of a siren makes that an impossible feat, however, the noise invading everyone’s ears out of the blue. The siren stays at a steady pace, blaring its loud horn before fading and doing it all again.
The deafening sound of it forces you all into a wide-eyed daze, looking around like deers to the headlights of a car. You don’t want to ask, but you truly wonder how much worse this experience can get.

Kenji Kon Headcanons pt.1 (been gatekeeping them)
When he was younger his Dad had very low standards of him, and believed he was incompetent and couldn't do anything. And out of spite Kenji would be as incompetent as possible and be lazy all the time and at a point he just kinda started being "lazy".
Every time he tried to be useful. Like making dinner or cleaning around the house. He ended up messing up, and then he'd burst into tears because it hurts worse when he was 'incompetent' on accident then on purpose. And his dad would just be like "oh Kenji, I wasn't expecting much from you anyways. The maids can do it." In his manipulative soft spoken voice.
Kenji is actually really good at cooking guys. He just never does it. But he would usually hang with the maids and cleaners and cooks who actually gave a damn about him unlike some people. And he gained skills from them. He's just too scared to ever apply them.
He has the worst self confidence, but he acts confident in everything that he does anyways.
The kool aid man is on his "hear me out cake" and "smash cake" for some odd reason. And he is PROUD OF THAT.
He has ADHD actually. But he doesn't know it until his adult years, and it explains so much about him.
He actually really loves reading comics and novels and stuff. And has at some point written fanfiction about *that one detective show* which is also a book because I say so.
Cries watching Bluey. He's favourite characters are Mackenzie and Bandit Heeler (cause he's a good dad).
Cries anytime he sees a healthy dad and child relationship in anything. Bro cried watching finding Nemo for goodness sake.
Percy Jackson's Apollo was his bisexual awakening. Mainly Lester from ToA, and he despised ZEUS mainly because of how shit of a father he is to Apollo. And it made him realise that huh, maybe his father was not a good father. (Let's pretend the timeline for Toa matches with the timeline of his teenage years😭)
Okay technically since ToA wasn't there for him as a teen. Let's just say that Apollo from greek mythology in general was his ACTUAL gay awakening. He knew he was bisexual in his teen years!! Just isn't that verbal about it tho. It happened when he was like 14 and had already read PJO and discovered Apollo fanart. And got real into greek mythology. Fricking bi panicked when he discovered feminine Apollo art and GOSHHHHH!!
He wears a buncha bracelets on his right hand. Half of them are the friendship bracelets the camp fan made eachother, and the others are ones he finds cute. And he has exchanged one with Brooklynn. He also has a black leather bracelet with three beads of the bisexual flag.
Wanted to do ballet when he was younger, but his dad stopped him. Telling him that it would ruin the Kon reputation and he was like eight. So, he cried because of that.
His fav colours are blue and green

No one's ever had me (not like you) Warning : sexual content. not suggestive, sexual. Don't like don't read.
Kenji thought yesterday could be the start of a new chapter to him and Brooklynn's relationship, a clean start, after all the recent heartache and fights. Brooklynn had stayed true to her word and logged off her computer at a reasonable hour, honestly way earlier than he has asked her to. She said she had woken up early to get extra work done so she could log off at twelve. Brooklynn made lunch; turkey sandwiches and fritos, a staple at their house (well, trailer). They laughed when Brooklynn had choked on her diet coke so hard she fell out of her chair, claiming it was "too crispy". After cleaning up the kitchen, they went on a walk down the street. Brooklynn had brought up how they hadn't gone out in weeks, which sparked the idea to go out for a couple drinks. Kenji insisted on driving a few towns over so he could take her somewhere nice, somewhere they had to wear more than just jeans and an old t-shirt. They had showered and gotten ready, Brooklynn drinking a seltzer as she applied her makeup. She always said she wasn't really going out if there was no pregaming involved. When Kenji saw Brooklynn in her dress, he was barely able to control himself enough to not tear it off of her and cancel their plans. The yellow satin fabric clung to her body in all the right places, the dress had an open back exposing her skin to the warm air, and it was far too short, drawing his eyes to her long legs. "What do you think?" She had asked as she gave him a twirl. "I think I'm gonna need to take that off of you as soon as we get back home." Kenji had said leaning against the counter. Brooklynn winked at him before grabbing her purse and waltzing out the door.
They had gone to some bar in the next town over called "The Drift". Brooklynn got them an outside table overlooking the mountains. They ordered a small charcuterie board and some drinks. Kenji stuck to his usual, an Old Fashioned, and Brooklynn got her favorite; an espresso martini. They talked about Kenji's climbing, and how they wanted to go on a trip to Switzerland for their next anniversary. Kenji told Brooklynn about his last call with his family, how Grandma Rosie had brought up that Brooklynn didn't drink any wine the last time she came for dinner, and how she must be pregnant. Darius and Kenji had tried to explain that she didn't drink wine because it gave her a headache, but Grandma was sure she was expecting a baby. Kenji told Brooklynn it took him twenty minutes to convince Grandma Rosie she didn't need to buy him a crib, and she didn't need to sign Brooklynn up for prenatal yoga. Brooklynn threw her head back and laughed when Kenji was finished, the sunsets light catching in the glow of her eyes. He couldn't stop himself from staring. Brooklynn tilted her head when she caught him, "What?", she asked, amusement in her tone. Kenji reached across the table and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "You're just beautiful. So fucking perfect." Brooklynn smirked, "You regretting not staying home now?" She rested her elbows on the table and leaned forward, giving Kenji an eyeful of cleavage. Brooklynn lowered her voice to a sultry whisper, "You wanna have your way with me?" Kenji's knee hit the table, rattling the glasses. Brooklynn clapped her hand to her mouth and laughed. Kenji spotted the waiter a few tables down and stuck his hand up, "Check, please!"
The drive home had been filled with heated stares. At one point, Brooklynn had propped her legs up on the dash, letting her dress slide up her leg, revealing lacy pink underwear. "Baby, do you want me to get in a wreck?" Kenji had asked, knuckles white from clutching the wheel so hard. "You'll be fine. Eyes on the road mister", Brooklynn had replied as she applied more lip gloss. Kenji sprung on Brooklynn as soon as they made it home, kissing her hard on their way into the trailer. Kenji backed her into the bed, getting on his knees once she was sat. He unclasped her heels and pulled them off, kissing her knee as he did so. Brooklynn bit her lip when his hands went under her the skirt of her dress to pull of her underwear. He rubbed a circle on both her hips before slipping her panties off with practiced ease. Brooklynn gasped when he pushed her down on the mattress, then flipped her over. Kenji leaned over Brooklynn and whispered in her ear, "Is this ok?" Brooklynn was breathing heavy as she replied, "Yes! Just fuck me already!" Kenji went crazy at that, almost ripping her dress as he untied it then slid it down her body with haste. Kenji groaned when he saw the slick already coating his girlfriends legs. He grabbed her legs and spread them, running a finger down her seam before leaning forward and whispering in her ear, "So wet for me, you gonna be a good girl, or do I need to make you wait?" Brooklynn scoffed, "If I remember correctly, you were the one fighting a boner the whole night." Kenji pulled his finger away from Brooklynn's heat, causing her to whimper. Kenji chuckled, "That's what I thought." He brought his hand back to her, slipping two fingers into her and gripping her ass with his other hand. Brooklynn gripped the sheets, letting out a moan that was muffled by the bed. "You like that?" Kenji asked as he curled his fingers inside her, grinning as he watched her squirm. Brooklynn moaned, unable to speak. "Words, baby." Kenji said softly. "Yes! Just please get inside of me!" Brooklynn said, lifting her ass up to give Kenji access. Kenji had other plans. He took his hand out from between her legs and flipped her back over, he stood up and removed his clothes, Brooklynn's eyes tracking him the whole time. When he was finally undressed, he leaned over Brooklynn and positioned himself at her entrance, locking eyes with her for silent confirmation before sinking into her heat. They moaned in unison when he was fully sheathed, Brooklynn capturing his lips in a kiss. Being inside her was still thrilling, even after so long together. They moved together, Kenji's brow resting on Brooklynn's chest, her nails scratching his back, sure to leave a mark. They held each other as they rode out their orgasms, whispering "I love you's".
They had fallen asleep blissful, limbs tangled, unaware of what the morning would bring.

Friendsgiving
“Stop it, Fadoula.” “Stop what?” “You know what,” Ben replied with a grimace.
Summary: As the first Thanksgiving comes around for the Nublar Six following their return to civilization, they choose to celebrate the holiday together. And perhaps Yaz and Ben's friendship drifts towards something more thanks to an unexpected food item.
A/N - This is the first story in my Benmina one-shot collection "The Track Star and the Wild Child" on ao3 that I posted almost a year ago, but since it was a belated Thanksgiving themed story then, felt appropriate to finally also post it on here for this year's Thanksgiving.
And just a quick note, this takes place Post-Season 5 of Camp Cretaceous, but prior to the Epilogue. Also it’s obviously an AU because Yaz and Sammy are not together in this universe.
“Stop it, Fadoula.”
“Stop what?”
“You know what,” Ben replied with a grimace.
Yaz smirked as she remained where she was, which was standing right beside Ben as he worked at one of the kitchen counters. Their little Friendsgiving celebration was winding down and Ben was working on dividing up the meat from the turkeys.
While the original plan had been for it to only be the six teenagers, their parents and siblings had insisted on joining in as well. And despite the distance many of them had to travel, it was decided that the Gutierrez ranch was the best location to host Sammy’s friends and their relatives.
While all the teens had helped prepare parts of the meal, Ben had been allowed to prepare the turkeys, despite several of the adults originally planning to handle the messy job themselves. However, Ben’s mother had to step in and stop them. As Ben’s mother explained to the other adults, this was the closest Ben got to ‘field dressing and quartering a kill’ aside from the fish he sometimes caught. While he’d adapted back into civilization, there was always going to be a part of him that longed for the jungles and the pseudo-hunter-gatherer lifestyle he had developed on Isla Nublar. And so, the adults relented and offered the job to Ben, who had eagerly started the task. And after the meal, Ben had volunteered to carve what remained of the turkeys and this time, no one protested.
As for the others, Sammy was having to serve as a referee for a surprisingly intense match of checkers between Kenji and Brand. Originally the two had asked Brooklynn, but she joked she wouldn’t be impartial since Kenji was her boyfriend. Then they’d asked Darius and the youngest of their group had declined on similar grounds, saying he couldn’t pick between his brother and best friend. Yaz then volunteered, but Kenji shot her down immediately, claiming she would sabotage the match and he might as well just proclaim Brand the winner in that case. While she hadn’t been planning anything, Yaz had just shrugged and smirked at Kenji’s reaction. And so, with Ben occupied with the turkeys and the other adults either engaged in conversation or playing equally intense games of Uno or Yahtzee with Sammy’s younger siblings, the boys had pleaded with Sammy to be referee.
And so, while Yaz had originally remained to spectate the match, she only had so much patience for the back and forth between Kenji and Brand as they took several minutes to complete their turns. Despite all the food they’d already consumed, Yaz herself had forgone dessert earlier and so decided to take the moment to get some pumpkin pie.
Serving herself a slice of pie, she’d then gone to the fridge to add the traditional topping: whipped cream. Without a second thought, she walked past Ben, set her plate down on the counter beside him, and opened the fridge door. Popping the cap off, she sprayed a small amount of whipped cream over top of her pumpkin pie. After she’d returned the topping to the fridge, she was met with a glare from Ben.
And then she remembered.
“Whipped cream, for some reason,” Sammy had added after Darius had begun listing Ben’s many phobias, as the monorail had sped them across Nublar, seemingly on their way to freedom.
“The way it moves,” Ben had replied with a shudder.
Yaz grinned as she opened the fridge door once more, retrieved the whipped cream and added a generous portion more to her plate.
Ben’s face softened as she returned the container to the fridge again. His glare returned quickly, however, when Yaz leaned up against the counter beside him and began to eat her pie, making sure to move the plate just enough so the whipped cream wobbled about.
“Stop it, Fadoula.”
“Stop what?”
“You know what.”
“I’m just enjoying some pie, Pincus,” Yaz replied, smirking around her plastic spoon as she took another bite. They’d only had just enough forks and other actual cutlery for the main meal earlier, which were now being cleaned in the dishwasher. So, Yaz had to resort to plasticware. She scooped some of the whipped cream off of the plate and pointed her spoon at Ben, “I don’t see what the problem is.”
Ben directed his irritated gaze at the condiment, “It’s one thing to have people eat it at the dinner table, it’s another to deliberately taunt me with it. It’s weird.”
Yaz raised an eyebrow, “Says the boy who loves bugs and is currently wrist deep in a roasted bird.”
Having carved away as much meat as possible with the knives long ago, Ben had resorted to using just his hands to pull away meat from the bones. He twisted one of the turkey wings until it dislocated from the shoulder. “Your point?”
Switching tactics, Yaz asked, “Have you ever tried it?”
“No and I still don’t want to,” Ben answered. “Not with how it acts.”
“Look, if you try some whipped cream right now, I’ll stop bothering you,” Yaz promised. “You enjoy grubs that are actively alive and wriggling-”
“They’re a natural food source, Fadoula, not whatever artificial abomination that is.”
“-but can’t handle a little whipped cream.” She waved the spoon closer to his face, “And if you don’t, I’ll have to tell Bumpster next time I see her that you’re still scared of-”
Without giving her time to finish her sentence, Ben’s head darted closer and his mouth closed around the spoon. His initial grimace gave way to a softer expression, his blue eyes holding Yaz’s surprised gaze as he pulled back.
Yaz felt her cheeks warm, “I-I thought you’d take the spoon.”
As he realized what he’d done, Ben’s own face flushed red, “Well, m-my hands are greasy. Didn’t want to dirty your spoon.”
“Makes sense,” Yaz agreed.
Ben cleared his throat, “Yep, sorry for surprising you.” It was his turn to raise an eyebrow, “Happy now?”
Yaz nodded, “Just one question, what’d you think? Was it as vile as you feared?”
“Honestly, it might be a little too sweet for my liking, but I didn’t hate it,” Ben conceded. “It still doesn’t look right though.”
“Fair enough,” Yaz accepted as she took another bite of pie, her smirk returning. As she started to wiggle her plate once again, Ben scowled and walked away from the turkey, heading to the sink. She frowned at the turkey, “Uh, I think you missed some meat on that bird.”
“Just going to wash my hands and take a short break,” he told her as he quickly scrubbed away the grease, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“What for?”
“To take that plate away from you, Fadoula,” Ben declared with a smile as he quickly dried his hands.
Yaz looked to the open porch and the cool evening air outside. Quickly, and being mindful of her pie, she darted outside, also grinning, “Catch me if you can, Pincus!”
Alternate ending, but probably moving way too fast for these two relationship-wise and it doubles-down on the food cliche:
When Ben refused to take the spoon, Yaz simply took the bite herself. As she began to dig her spoon into her pie for more, Ben cleared his throat.
As her brown eyes met his gaze, she raised another eyebrow, “What?”
His own blue gaze flickered lower, “You, uh, you got some whipped cream on you.”
Internally, Yaz cursed as she tried to see where the stain was on her outfit. Not that she was too concerned, but it was annoying that she had managed to go the entire day without spilling anything and only when she had decided to get some dessert as a treat, she spilled it on herself. When she couldn’t find anything, she scowled at Ben, thinking he’d said it to get back at her for teasing him. “Nice try, Pincus,” she said before taking another bite.
“N-no, Yaz, you, not your…,” Ben floundered before glancing at his greasy hands. When he looked back to her, Yaz was surprised at the intensity of his gaze. And before she could realize what he was doing, he had leaned over and all but kissed her on the side of the mouth. As he pulled away, his face was aflame and Yaz was certain her own face was equally red. “It was, uh, on your face. I got it.”
Surprising herself, Yaz asked, “And, what did you think?”
Ben licked his own lips, “Sweeter than I expected.”
Suddenly feeling bold herself, Yaz asked, “You sure you got all of it?”
Ben frowned, “Pretty sure-”
The younger teen stopped short as Yaz took another bite of pie, this time being sure to leave a little whipped cream directly on her lips.
This time, when Ben leaned in, Yaz didn’t hesitate to meet him.
And if Brooklynn, who had volunteered to grab some drinks for herself and the others from the kitchen, had happened to catch Ben and Yaz’s first kiss on her phone, well, she was sure they’d appreciate the video and pictures sometime down the road.
Apologies if they seem OOC at all. Rereading it now, I feel it's a little rougher than I remembered. This was written well before we had any info on Chaos Theory. But they’re a bit older than the end of the show (though they’ve not reached their ages in the epilogue yet) and again, Yaz and Sammy aren’t a thing in this universe, so Ben and Yaz have maybe both caught some level of feelings for the other, but they’re not sure how to show it yet. I’ve already got a Christmas-themed sequel to this and perhaps even a New Year’s one as well. We’ll see where it goes. If you’ve made it this far, thanks again for reading! And again, if you have any short story ideas, I welcome any and all suggestions, though it may take time for me to write them (I also reserve the right to decline if I already have a similar story in mind or I don’t agree with the idea; if it’s the former, I’ll be sure to let you know I’m working on something and if it’s the latter, I’ll just say I’m not comfortable with the idea). (Also, I know field dressing and quartering an animal is for pretty much immediately after an animal has been downed, but given that they’re cooking whole turkeys, presumably purchased at a store (though if they’re having Thanksgiving at the Gutierrez ranch, it’s not outside the possibility that the Gutierrez either raise turkeys themselves or know people who do, but I digress), giving Ben the chance to ‘field dress’ and ‘quarter’ the birds by prepping them and later carving them seems like something up his alley.)

ngl at first I thought that season 3 of jwct was going to be the last one but the more I think about it the more inclined I am to believe that maybe we are going to get more seasons?
*bone cracking sound* let's get into it, shall we?
A couple of things that jwct has to cover before the end:
Biosyn facility in Italy
Raptor Handler and Soyona meeting
Red the Atrociraptor reuniting (?) with the rest of Atrociraptors
Brooklynn (eventually) turning her back on Santos
Brooklynn reuniting with Camp Fam for real
Potentially (very high possibility) Malta
Bumpy's baby hatching (+ eventually, Bumpy and baby Bump reunion)
Tension between Sammy and her family explained
Ben's girlfriend reveal
Resolution of the tension between Kenji-Brooklynn-Darius
So this is how I see this playing out. (Head-ups - this is a result of my research but, let's be honest, also kind of a manifestation of my hopes and very much just a fan-theory. So take it easy)
If Brooklynn and Santos are really to reach Biosyn's center in Italy, I doubt it's going to be "in-and-out" type of visit. In Dominion Santos is entrusted with organizing a "transport" for Maise Lockwood; now let's remember that in the past Brooklynn researched the Lockwood mansion, I wouldn't be surprised if that came up at least briefly (perhaps, to even further ensure Soyona's trust, Brooklynn will offer some advice while simultaneously working on how to save the girl). Then, we have the matter of transported eggs – I'm sure that Brooklynn's gonna be very interested in where they are going etc etc. It's all going to take an appropriate amount of time. At the same time, the campers need time to actually reach Italy too, then potentially get to the facility (I think this is where Ben's conspiracy theory-induced knowledge may resurface – in season 1 it is confirmed that he has heard the theory about the mysterious locust).
We know that the Handler and Soyona absolutely have to meet (because both of them are hot). The Handler has three antrociraptors, Soyona only has Red. In Dominion (which takes place a little after current events of jwct) Soyona has all four antrociraptors at her disposal. Now, knowing about the bond between antrociraptors and the Hanlder, to me it kind of implies that eventually the Handler is completely separated from the raptors, and their bond is severed (does she die? does she lose her whistle and the raptors turn against her? I wouldn't put it past the showrunners to kill her tbh. Since her bond with the antrociraptors seems to be something more than just a whistle thing (as opposed to the clicking effect dr Sarr had on the Baryonyx)). I think that Soyona will call for the Handler when she realizes that the rest of Camp Fam are on their tail. Again - that takes time. The Handler has to get to Italy, find the Camp Fam, some sort of fight has to occur, she "loses" (somehow), Soyona gets pissed... All of that takes time.
Then, eventually, at some point, Brooklynn decides that she has gathered enough material to turn her back on Soyona and run away. I doubt it's going to be easy. I don't know if it's going to be a decision she makes on her own, or if it's going to be motivated by the Camp Fam being in danger. Either way, I doubt it's going to happen prior to the fouth/fifth episode.
So after Brooklynn "parts ways" with Soyona, she has to reunite with Camp Fam, and we know that it won't be easy. I think that some of the campers will warm up to her sooner (probably Ben for obvious reasons, Sammy and Darius), others later (Kenji will probably be the last one). I suspect that it may require some sort of "grand gesture" on Brooklynn's side. At first, I thought that maybe I'd be egg-related but I honestly doubt it? I think that she will meet Bumpy's baby post-hatching but that's a shoot in the dark tbh.
My personal theory is that Sammy's parents got somehow involved with Biosyn and Sammy didn't like that and that's what caused their parting. Since Sammy's family owns a ranch, they know a lot about, well, farming and what is the locust attacking? Ranches. So I assume that Biosyn has some sort of "informants". Maybe Sammy instantly figured out that something about Biosyn is off? Who knows. Either way, we need to learn what exactly is the reason behind the crisis within Gutierrez family and resolve it. And the way Sammy phrased that and kind of tip-toes around the topic, I think it will be somehow related to the plot + resolving it is going to take some time.
Then, I think it's safe to assume that eventually, we will end up in Malta since this is also where the events of JW Dominion take place. Remember how jwcc season 3 ended? We got an extra perspective on the events in JW movie - a perspective of campers. I think that with jwct, the showrunners may do a very similar thing (let's remember that JW is a franchise therefore, at least in theory, everything is somehow connected; such perspective would make a nice bridge between the series and the movies).
Now, this is where my own theory kicks in for real. If we look at jwcc and jwct in general, Soyona shapes to be the only villain that the Camp Fam won't ultimately defeat. Or... will they? Both Tiff and Mitch, Kash and even Daniel end up "losing" because of the Camp Fam (either directly or indirectly). Now, I haven't watched Dominion in a while but if I remember correctly the last scene with Soyona shows her as she's about to be arrested. This got me thinking... what if she somehow manages to escape? As far as we know, Soyona seems like the kind of person who always has a backup plan. Remember that she also has connections within DPW (now disbanded ofc) - she knows a lot of people, and a lot of people work for her. All of this is a theory but I wouldn't be surprised if, before the events of Dominion, she didn't have some sort of backup plan; for example Jensen from DPW who's ready to "react if things go south". So Soyona attempts to escape, and she escapes to the States (remember that eventually, the Camp Fam has to get there somehow lol). Who chases after her? The campers obviously because now it's more than just dinosaurs, now it's personal too – fueled by Brooklynn's hatred for Soyona, fueled by the need to see her "locked up" for good. I wouldn't be surprised if the creators of the show decided that it would be more fitting if Soyona was "captured" and brought to justice by the Camp Fam seeing as, ultimately, she plays "bigger villain" in jwct than in Dominion. So depending if the creators decide to do something like that or not - that could potentially be what season 4 would focus on - the final and ultimate defeat of Soyona Santos.
However. If they decide to end Santos plotline at where it ends in Dominion, there's still plenty to explore in a potential season 4. I wouldn't be surprised if Camp Fam ended up in the Biosyn's center again - for example, to recover the rest of eggs/make sure that they are safe, or (knowing Darius) to ensure that the dinosaurs will be safe there. [Ben's gf enters the chat] I strongly suspect that Ben's girlfriend (if she's real) has some sort of connection with Biosyn (the chance of these two meeting through Dark Jurassic is pretty high after all), depending on who she is, there could be a whole new plotline related to the character - making her "someone more" than just a person whose role boils down to being a mysterious girlfriend. If she works for Biosyn (spies?), I wouldn't be surprised if there was some extra secret hidden by this company. It's like... call me crazy, but I think that a huge company like that has a lot of connections. I wouldn't be surprised if it somehow led us back to (thankfully, now deceased) Daniel Kon - after all we know that he was secretly planning to rebuild his company, and still had a lot of money. So this is where I see a potential for another season of mysteries and events. (I also have a tiny theory on the side that Ben's "girlfriend" is actually, a guy aka Ramsay Cole - a head of communications in Biosyn; it would make sense for him to be on Dark Jurassic, knowing this character's plotline in Dominion; his age is not revealed but my guess is that he is around 25 years old. Also, one of the producers of jwct mentioned in an interview that he'd love to bring more characters from Dominion to jwct so... there you go. Idk just a theory, but it lines up. Especially with Ben being half-firm, half-awkward when talking about his partner yk).
I think there are honestly so many ways this show can be developed and... for good reasons too. Not just good reasons plot-wise but also because, well, let's be real jwcc/jwct is extremely popular. And the creators are aware of it. It's safe to assume that initially the show (jwcc) was supposed to be three seasons long but, due to its popularity, they added 2 more seasons and then decided to make a whole spin-off series. And the spin-off too is very popular and generally praised not only by the target audience (kids) but also but "older" jurassic fans. Seeing as Jurassic is a franchise, therefore, something that is supposed to "keep going" (fuel itself), jwcc and jwct are a perfect way to also introduce younger generations to the entire world of jurassic, literally "raising" them to be fans of the series, and a great way to keep other fans entertained as they wait for the next installments of the movie series (after all, a brand new JW trilogy is in plans).
So yeah. I've been meaning to make a post about it for a while but I wanted to make it as detailed and as "canon-aligned" as possible so it took me a while. Honestly, in the end, this is mostly just the hopes and dreams of a devoted jwcc fan who has been suffering from camp fam-brainrot for the past 4 years!
If you read it that far - it's time to touch some grass. I recently started growing my own in a flowerpot and... well, it doesn't really help but it's the thought that matters! if you have any thoughts about the upcoming installment(s?) of jwct - I'd love to hear them. And remember to be nice, we are all just fans after all :D

Katolis 99👀
[Ofc I had to turn The Dragon Prince into a Brooklynn 99 AU! Amaya would make a great Captain Holt, Jake and Amy can be Callum and Rayla, and then I don't know who is being replaced by the Corsorpeli plot line I added but that's in there too lol cause if I ship 'em both, why not ship 'em all together?]
“Poly as in polyamorous?” Opeli asked. She had looked up the phrase online the night before, after Soren told her. After he asked her out and for some stupid reason she had said yes despite the fact that he was her coworker. And he already had a boyfriend. The word had meant something scandalous growing up, something wrong. A word for people who refused to live in the way God had intended.
But Opeli knew a lot of people who had broken the rules of the bible, now. And she called many of them her friends. Soren included.
And there, beside articles about how it was wrong, or bred mistrust, or resulted in fractured and strained relationships; there had also been articles and stories by people who spoke about having fulfilling relationships with multiple people, loving ones, important ones. Because there were two sides to every coin, and just because she’s only been shown one side didn’t mean the other didn’t exist.
And here was Soren, offering her a hand and saying he wanted to show her the other side of the coin.
He was nodding, giving her a little smile like he’d probably had to explain this a thousand times to people like her, who grew up with only one side of the story. “Yeah. And you can ask me any questions you have about it. Honest. I don’t mind. And like I said, Corvus and I already talked it all over. It’s just up to you and if you want to.”
She smiled back at him. She did have some questions, but they could wait. Because the specifics of any relationship they could have didn’t matter when there was no relationship to begin with. And thinking that there could be one was just foolish, wasn’t it?
“Soren, I do like you.” She said at last, and watched his smile widen only to vanish completely. “But you’re being foolish. You- you play drums in a band, you go to clubs and show up at work on Mondays a little hung over. You’re a well regarded detective - aside from that last bit - with a whole career ahead of you. You could be captain someday.”
She cleared her throat, glancing away. “I’m a divorced single mother of two. The latest I stay up these days is nine o’clock, and that’s only when I can’t help it. I spend my spare time cutting the crusts off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I don’t know what you think you see in me, but it’s not there and you’re better off finding it elsewhere.”
Soren guided her hands up from under the table, clasping them in his own as he leaned closer. That little smile had returned to his lips.
“Opeli, you are all of that. But you’re also one of the smartest, funniest, most beautiful people I know.”
“I’m not-”
“You are.” He said, and their faces were so close now that if she had leaned in just a little bit their lips would have been touching. “Plus, I hear you make a mean peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

A weird one today.
Custom miraculous ep6/7: Lord monarch
A two parter, taking part of our heroes to medieval times.
Today, paris is holding a medieval renaissance fair and nearly everyone's in costume: zoe's on the fence, marc gave up, and Lloyd's just himself with his turtleneck natural. Everyone's in character and walking around the area with Lloyd casually talking about renaissance facts, including the legend of a butterfly holder. Lila has a plan to akumatise Mr. Pigeon, but as she does, a time rip appears, sucking some heroes through. After Lloyd decides to close it on the other end, the new heroes, zoe, sabrina, kim and nath, are left in Paris (you'll see what happens with the rat king in episode 8...)
In medieval times, the others dust off whilst Lloyd appears, now wearing brooklynn's jacket, same turtleneck, black jeans and some other changes, seemingly being a result of the rip causing some gadgets to go haywire. A royal party comes across them bearing the butterfly motif, and only Lloyd, Marc, and adrien escape (for what it's worth if marinette was slightly faster, she would've been with the trio.)
Marinette and the others arrive at a village ruled by a butterfly holder, somehow and asks them to be thrown in the dungeon, but a maid claims marinette as from their attire, she can tell she's a designer and is more valuable outside, so he agrees on the condition the maid is responsible for her. Inside the dungeon, however, the others there find Alix...
As for the trio, marc asks Lloyd about what he said a few days ago, in which he reveals the fact that Lloyd never fully lies, but is rather truthful, and presents the eye he took inside a special ring and shows how he transforms: the kitsune and chrome bring the armor, and he has every miraculous in a vial to activate. Adrien decides to ask about how he knows so much, with a response hinting to marc about him being cat noir through camembert. They plan a break in to find the others and try leaving.
Marinette finds out about how lord monarch came to be: he had a queen but she passed, and he believed the mythical miraculous was the answer, but was unable to find it, so an akuma found him and gave him a black heart to cope. She says she can make whatever they want, but the material needs to be present so she gets the room alone to make escape plans.
Alix says that when the rip happened, she wound up there about a week before them, shown in dungeon dirt and soot. A sound breaks outside.
It's the trio breaking them out, and Marc's already in the dungeon leading them out, whilst Lloyd and adrien find marinette ascending the tower when only alix appears, saying he expected them and caught everyone else again. To allow bunnix to return to paris and a distraction, Lloyd uses his zero point and "gold diamond" powers to do so and shroud the area in indigo smoke. Marinette and adrien escape, but Lloyd's captured. (Hey, at least he's focused on a style after this. It's still not medieval and is essentially fully norma. Yep, it used the turtleneck as the basis.) When trying to tie his hands like the rest, the person burns their hands as Lloyd has the chrome clean it in seconds. He still follows, but shows that he could stop everything, with brutal efficiency if provoked.
Marinette and adrien are away from the village when a cart bearing a ladybug symbol appears and picks them up. It's a ladybug holder, as a simple peasant (at the time period terminology), and they explain the story and how the monarch knew things he shouldn't like the prison escape. Apparently, the holder tells them the monarch was able to revive his wife, but had to cause misery and admist this, a warlock accidently gave him the ability of foresight. They ask for assistance. I
n the dungeon, everyone's in a dirty cell, and Lloyd's thrown in. When asked how Lord Monarch knew about the attempt, he says that genuinely shocked him but couldn't tell his actions. He's also bound to the gold diamond magic temporarily due to sending bunnix back as a beacon. By now, you can definitely note stains and that Lloyd's Chrome's in overdrive, keeping him clean.
Thankfully, hours later, they return to face lord monarch in their miraculous forms and begin a brawl that allows cover for the chrome to eat the cell metal bars and alya to secretly use her miraculous. When the guards check nothings happening, they break out. After a long battle across the village, the other ladybug holder catches the akuma and saves the day. Shortly after, the others join as the village celebrates their victory. Marinette talks to alya about the name sound alike with a vocal hint that she may have lied about something regarding monarch in season 5...
Lloyd finds adrien who asks if he really does tell the truth and specifically about his father. He says to adrien that it's a very life-changing truth that may break him, but he cannot tell it's truth. It must be from a relative or person present but hints ladybug may be keeping something from him...
But, how will they return? Well, Lloyd's able to link to bunnix to create a beacon, but her miraculous took the energy from moving, so no burrow. With no other options, Lloyd has to open a door to the time sewers. Upon opening the hatch door, you can see reactions of disgust and that famous "do we have to?" In which, yes. One by one they descend to crawl back to current time paris. Only Lloyd, Marc and marinette remain when adrien offers to help marinette bear it to which she agrees. Mylene's fear led Lloyd to use the chrome power to send her back only, as it needs time to recoup. Even Lloyd says he disliked the idea since he was a child as he saw it with others during babysitting (claire, norma, zoe) which also does prompt marc to actually ask how he knows zoe. Lloyd continues, talking about imagining the terrible feeling, stench and all of them had a fear of it. However, in that fearful embrace, they said if anyone had to use that method, it would be to help others who are scared too, like marc. He does finally answer as they both descend into the sewers that the trio with him had history with him (claire babysitting and childhood magic bursts, norma in 2008, and parliament, eventually a baby/childsitter. For zoe, it's babysitting too, but says it's hers to speak of.
After half an hour, bunnix and zoe notice a hatch and open it, leading to the group coming out of it like a slide. (It's got a few slides in it, as well as ascends and straight lanes.) The others are shook at the mess, but note they need a clean, so errr, Nathaniel makes a pit of water that they fall into, with Lloyd and marc falling in after the slide. (Of course, Lloyd's having a panic attack whilst everyone deals with it, when zoe pulls him out and holds him tight...)

The First Q&A Stream
(Streamer au)
Camillia sets down her beer with a smug smile. "Come on, chat. Don't you guys have anything good?" Marcie says, exasperated at the lack of questions. Emil had been the one to suggest they did a Q&A stream together. Everyone agreed it was a good idea. It was decided it would be filmed when they met up for PAX. So here they were, in a nice hotel streaming the Q&A. At some point, Brooklynn had got some alcohol for those who needed it.
"Have you ever shot a gun?" Emil reads from chat. Marcie snots while Brooklynn seems to be rethinking her life choices. Camillia sits up, causing the other three to look at her. "No way," Brooklynn says with disbelief. Camillia shoots her a grin before launching into her story. "So, my dad's a single parent. As a single parent and father, he wanted us to bond somehow. So, little thirteen-year-old Camillia was dragged out for a camping trip which was a cover to teach me how to hunt. I'm not going to be too graphic, chat. But, to answer the question, yes, I know how to shot a gun and I can never watch Bambi again, "Camillia gives the chat a soft smile before standing up. "Where are you going? You can't just leave us with that!" Marcie cries out while Camillia walks away from the group. "I'm heading to the bathroom, Mar. You'll be fine without me," Camillia calls over her shoulder before walking entirely out of frame.
"Well then," Emil says, uncertain about what to do next. Brooklynn saves her by checking if the chat has more questions. "What is the most embarrassing memory you have from school?" Brooklynn asks the other two to save them from Camillia's lack of story. Emil takes it with grace. "I think my most embarrassing memory is when I thought I was dating this girl," Emil starts, and Marcie gives him a look of pity. "What do you mean, thought?" Brooklynn asks, already getting concerned for the boy. "Well, that's the thing," He gives the two a sheepish look. "I thought we were dating because she had told me she liked me. I told her I felt the same way. We held hands and kissed a lot. We went on dates and were always with one another. An important thing to remember is I was still very feminine looking during this time." The last sentence makes Marcie concerned. It was no secret Emil was trans, as he often had trans flags littered throughout his channel branding. "So, a few months into this, she comes to me and starts gushing about this guy," Emil continues his story, oblivious to the concern of the other two. "I'm sitting there confused, but I assume she's excited to have a new friend. Until she tells me that she has a crush on him. So I'm upset and tell her that I am. She was then confused, so I explained that we were dating. She laughed and informed me she did those things with all her best girlfriends. So, my most embarrassing memory is that whole situation." He finishes and takes a deep breath to steady himself. "Dude! I'm sorry you had to go through that," Marcie tells the boy as she hugs him. Brooklynn hugs him as well. Emil lets out a soft sigh and gently pushes the two girls away. "Let's just move on," He tells them.
The two give each a quick look but agree and move back to read the chat. "What is the dumbest thing you've ever done?" Brooklynn finds a question before Marcie. Marcie sighs wistfully. "So, chat, you know how I have a girlfriend," Marcie starts and immediately gets wide-eyed looks from the other two. Marcie scoffs at their expressions. "The dumb thing I did isn't related to us dating," She tells them with a huff. Emil chuckles sheepishly while Brooklynn shrugs. Rolling her eyes, Marcie begins her story. "The dumb thing I did was specific date plans I made. I wanted to celebrate my girlfriend coming home from the army, so I planned this girl's day. It was messages, getting our nails done, the whole work. Before anyone asks, Christy enjoys things like that and has often taken me on dates like this before. She also had been home for a while, but we lived in different states. She wanted to be with family the first few days before she came to visit me." Marcie explains, giving a slight glare to the chat before continuing. "So, I'm excited to surprise her with this, and I head to the airport to pick her up. Now while planning this day, I didn't ask her about certain things. For example, she shaved off her hair because it kept getting in her way. She didn't want to be touched by other people due to panic attacks," Marcie pause and hangs her head. "I felt so bad! I should have asked how she was with others and everything. She reassured me a thousand times that it was okay and that I couldn't have known. I still feel bad about it, even if it's a funny story. So, that's the dumbest thing I've ever done, in my opinion." Emil is laughing into his hand, Brooklynn is trying hard not to chuckle, and Camillia, who arrives in time to hear the end of the story, grins widely. Marcie scoffs at all her friends and grabs the phone from Brooklynn.
"Do you consume a lot of caffeine?" Marcie reads off the first question she finds. Brooklynn snorts but realizes the other three are staring at her. "What?" She asks, confused by the looks. "You laughed so clearly there's a story. So, spill," Camillia tells the redhead with a wave of her hand. Brooklynn rolls her eyes with a smile playing on her lips. "First of all, I snorted, and second, there is a story," She takes a moment to gather her thoughts before continuing. "The answer is yes. The story is about how my sisters and I were difficult kids. My mom is a big coffee drinker and a single mother of three. She deserves a gold medal for putting up with the three of us. Anyway, there was a day the oldest sister, Bridget, had a brilliant idea. For April Fools, she roped Rina, the youngest, and me into this awful idea. The plan was to dump out all of my mother's coffee beans and pretend we had eaten them all," Brooklynn takes a moment to reminisce while Emil looks at the woman in shock. Camillia shakes her head, and Marcie seems to be rethinking her choice of friends. Brooklynn continues her story. "My mother wakes up on April first and sees her coffee bean container empty. When she goes to her kids, they tell her they ate all of them. My mom very calmly gets us dressed and into the car very quickly. My sisters and I didn't understand what was happening, and one of us asked about it. Mom told us we were going to the doctor, and immediately, we started to complain. She explained she needed to know if we were okay after eating coffee beans, the truth came out, and we headed home. She wasn't mad and just sighed. I recently asked my mother about the incident and how she managed to stay calm. She told me she was furious and wanted to yell at us. What kept her sane was repeating how much she loved us in her head." The group gives an aw at the end of the story. "That's kinda sweet," Emil says as Camillia nods in agreement. Brooklynn smiles softly and playfully pushes him. "Whatever, let's just move on," She tells the group, a little embarrassed.
The four continue the night, telling stories and jokes. When they're all getting sleepy, they decide to end the stream. After saying goodbye and telling chat about some of their plans for the next day, the stream officially ends. The four get ready for bed and climb into the beds. Marcie and Brooklynn are in one bed. Camillia and Emil are in the other. Emil smiles softly as he's wrapped in the arms of Camillia. The taller girl gives him a light squeeze before drifting off. Next to them, Brooklynn and Marcie are nestled together in their bed. All four drift peacefully to sleep.
(A/n: A Q&A stream with platonic cuddling! This is really a get-to-know-the-streamer/character in this world better. I'm happy with how this turned out. I hope you all enjoyed it and I can't wait to write the next one!)

The kids all appear impressed by the Penthouse, which could mean several things...
None of them actually saw it the first time...though it's possible Brooklynn and Sammy did. Darius definitely didn't, he's fully blown away. Which leads to my second option...
Some of them saw it briefly. It wouldn't be surprising for them to have sent Kenji and Sammy ahead while Brooklynn and Darius stayed with Yaz, who didn't feel like running. Then Kenji and Sammy test the locks, the codes don't work, Kenji and Sammy come back in defeat, Sammy explains the situation, Yaz shames Kenji for his failure.
Anyone who saw it the first time didn't see it in full (fog!), or it's just been so long since they've seen a Proper Building that they're impressed. They had a lot more on their minds the first time!
Highly likely option: the Penthouse area was surrounded by its own perimeter fence which Kenji couldn't access (where the scooters were kept). Kenji tried the entrance gate and couldn't even get close. Obviously, after months of dinosaurs roaming around, the gates weren't really a problem. The only step left was if Brooklynn could get them inside.
Which she could!
Final check before I lose count of the days.
I assume they crossed off the area south of Main Street because of what they saw on the way up.
They might have made their way to the P-house in order to know that the locks were changed, but there's also the implication that they visited it for the first time in the later episode, so they might have found something like Owen's cabin--of course, it being near the water, there was probably a big, toothy boi outside.
There are several riverside X's, actually, so I assume the kids probably went east after fleeing Main Street, then followed the river north, avoiding several dinosaur-themed threats in episodes we will never see.
Actually, the map kind of makes perfect sense like that...
